Even though it’s only been a week since my last post, the weather in England has already made a pretty substantial turn towards the cooler temperatures. We’re in a bit of a transition right now, where the mornings or afternoons are sunny – and the rest of the day is filled with torrential downpours and cold winds.
Because of this, it can be pretty hard to keep track of your skin care and grooming routines (not that I was always so great at it in the first place!), but through trial and error I’ve come across products and items that have been a god send (like this Men’s trimmer) that I wanted to share with you today.
When I used to work at the fragrance counter, we’d always see an influx of people to the beauty department during this season as they try to tackle the weather and the effect it’s having on their skin. Dry, oily or combination – we’re all thrown through the ringer during this time of the year, which is why I thought it might be a good idea to not just write about what’s been helping my skin recently, but open a conversation with you guys about what products you’re loving too.
I’m going to warn you that nearly all of these are from the Origins skin care range – after being introduced to the company through Ingrid Nilsen’s recommendation, I quickly fell in love and practically inhaled all the products I could get my hands on. What I love about them is that their products are really nourishing, and when battling the harsher climate that being on the coast in England delivers, it keeps my skin from being a sweaty/itchy/acne-prone mess that I know it definitely runs the risk of becoming.
Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream
If you’re like me, and you have a problem with under eye bags – then I would seriously recommend that you check this product out. Not only does this cream brighten under your eyes, but the coffee-infused formulae depuffs the skin to make you look (and feel!) more awake.
What I love most about the Origins GinZing is how light it feels. It’s not a heavy cream, it’s silkier and has the slightest pigmentation to blend easier onto the skin. All you need is the tiniest dab each morning and it will take care of any and all of your worries for hours and hours (I usually only need to apply first thing, then if I’ve got a full day of working either in the office or out on set, I’ve never found that I’ve needed to reapply!)
Since coming across this, I’ve used it every single day – for over a month, and I still have loads left. I was worried at first since it’s only available in a 15ml tub, but that’s honestly nothing to worry about. This little guy does so much good!
If you’re looking for a really nourishing mask to leave your face feeling supple and hydrated, then look no further.
I received a sample of this following my purchase of the eye cream (you can pick a free sample at check out when buying any Origins product on their site!) and I’m so glad that this product worked out for me because it’s exactly what I had been looking for.
Going into the colder months, my skin reacts pretty quickly and sensitively – feeling tighter, drier and just generally quite irritated. The Drink Up Intensive mask though, which has the active ingredient of avocados, is made to hydrate any dry skin – and since it’s an overnight mask, it’s something you can apply before bed, leave on for your skin to sink into during the night – and reap the awesome benefits in the morning!
Also, the product is one of Origins top-rated-and-bought on their site, so that definitely means something good!
If you’re like me and suffer from clogged pores on the regular, then I can’t recommend this mask enough. It is made from charcoal and creates a ‘second skin’ across your face to unblock and purify your skin.
It’s something that you’ve probably seen quite a few people rave about – because everybody who tries it seems to fall in love, and I definitely jumped on the bandwagon once I saw it on Origins’ website!
This is awesome for Autumn and Winter especially since the wind picks up so much in these seasons, and the colder, harsher temperatures can lead to your pores clogging quicker and becoming more prone to breakouts (that’s what I find with my own, anyway!)
Also, it has one of those satisfactory feelings like removing a pore strip when you rip it off and I can never help myself when it comes to inspecting the sheet for the gross bits. Haha.
St Tropez Self Tan Express
Okay, so St Tropez perhaps isn’t skincare, but it’s something that I’ve only recently started using and has made such a difference. I’m super pale, and I’ve always avoided fake tanning because I was worried that I’d mess it up, or it would be too difficult, or that I’d end up staining myself half one colour, half another and have to walk around with everyone visually judging me for it. Until – this product.
What I love about St Tropez’s Self Tan Express is that it isn’t made just for one colour, it’s a solution that you leave on – then depending on how deep you want your tan to be, you can wash off as and when. I think that’s brilliant for maintaining a light tan through Autumn-Winter (or a full on darker one, you do you!), and the mousse application means that it doesn’t get matted when you have hairy legs, either. Which is fantastic.
I just think the entire thing is fantastic, it only takes about 5-10 minutes twice a week, and each time the colour lasts for 5/6 days. And the fact that it’s half price at Amazon is even better, so that’s why it’s made this essentials list! Ha ha!
