My Travel Essentials That I Couldn’t Leave Behind

Wanderlust travel, photography, travel destinations, travelling, adventure

There are so many eventualities to prepare for when travelling. Whenever I’m packing for time away, my mind whirrs through “what if this happens? “what if that happens?” “but what about this? Or that?” and I end up feeling like I have to break down what I need into boxes so I can tackle them one at a time.

So much goes into a good trip, from where/when/how you book it, to the essentials that you just can’t leave home without! Today, I wanted to compile a list of items that I would consider ‘essentials’ when travelling, whether you’re going domestically or internationally.

For this list, I’ve tried to combine a mix of things from comfy travel attire (like that awesome cashmere wrap to use both as a blanket on the plane and a scarf), some apps to download for pre-planning (Kayak) and also while you’re on your journeys (Google Maps/Translate, Like a Local) and some helpful bits and bobs to make your time jet-setting as painless as it should be (TSA approved travel padlock, suitcase wrap and GPS tracking pads for your essentials!)

I’d love to know what you’d consider an essential when travelling! Make sure to leave it in the comments below! My favourite has to be the portable charger! When Scott and I are exploring, we’re almost always using Google Maps to get from Point A to B, and then other apps like Trip Advisor and Yelp to figure out where we want to eat! Because of this, I rely on my phone constantly and try to have it charged up for as long as I can get!

    • I was literally the exact same! I ended up making a list on the iPhone Reminders app that I could tick off every time that I was packing so I wouldn’t forget any essentials! Especially when I’m packing for work, I always gloss over my essentials and end up missing things off! I’m so glad you appreciate the list! Happy Monday!

I am loving all these suggestions! I just got packing cubes for my recent trip and it was amazing! I felt so much more organized and prepared with them. It really made a difference. And you should look at my favorite traveling app called Here. Dan and I like to plug in the coordinates for all our destinations before our trip and rely on the GPS from that app! If you download the country maps, you don’t need to use wifi or data! It’s great for us because we don’t have an international data plan.
