The Summer months are one season where I’m extra motivated to keep on track with my fitness goals. Although Summer bodies ‘should’ be built in the Winter, I always find it difficult to balance the cold wind and weather with keeping away from comfort foods and extra portions of chocolate (or, all the portions of chocolate if I’m being honest). When the sun shines, I find it a lot easier to resist because fruit can be a lot more refreshing to eat when you’re in warmer climates.
Snacks have always been my downfall. If you guys didn’t already know, I’m a bonafide snack hoarder. I always have a stash of snacks somewhere, and I chomp my way through them a lot quicker than I’d like to admit. From chocolate to sweets and everything in between, I’m a lover of it (as much as I try to convince myself that I’m not!). And as much as I do love fruit and healthier foods, sometimes there’s no alternative to an ooey gooey chocolate brownie or a plaque of chocolate full to the brim with caramel (brb while I drool just thinking about that).
That’s why, last year, Scott and I set out on a bit of a mission to find healthy snack food that actually didn’t make us miss our traditional chocolate. Not something that we could trick ourselves into enjoying, but snacks that we were excited to dig into and knew we could enjoy guilt-free.
On that journey, I found some really great choices that I can’t wait to share with you guys today – including brownies that are just as indulgent as traditional ones (I promise you!), ice cream that’s rich and delicious and raw fruit bars that come in a great variety of flavours and taste like you’re eating a chocolate bar instead of raw fruit.
If you’re reading this, I’m assuming you’ve been on the same mission that Scott and I did, and I’d love to know what healthy snacks you found! Do we have any of the same? Do you have any advice you can offer? I’d love to hear it below! And without further ado, here’s the snacks I’m going to be guilt-free bingeing all Summer long…
Fibre One 90 Calorie Cake Bars
Mr. Kipling meets guilt-free brownies. Each one is less than 90 calories and tastes spongey and light.
Frill Frozen Smoothie
Vegan alternative to healthy ice cream. Frill’s chocolate flavour tastes like a ganache, dark and earthy in all the best ways.
Go Ahead Chocolate Covered Pretzels
Available in yoghurt, milk and dark. Each bag is 94 calories or less and packed with chocolatey-pretzel goodness.
Nak’d Raw Fruit Bars
From berry delight to pecan pie and caffe mocha. Each bar is 100% raw fruit, flavoursome and indulgent.
Halo Top Healthy Ice Cream
The infamous Halo Top which sells better than Ben and Jerrys in The USA. From mint chip to cookie dough, cinnamon roll and salted caramel. A range of delicious flavours and my personal favourite healthy ice cream.
