Over the past six months, I’ve really refined what products I’m using on my skin. My skincare routine has changed in leaps and bounds from what it was last Winter, and it has improved greatly. The things that I’ve implemented have all helped my skin to recover and bounce back from years of neglect. This has been fantastic because until last year I didn’t have any skincare routine to speak of. This past year, I’ve really honed in on what products my skin needs on a daily, weekly and then monthly basis. These products will differ, depending on what I’m doing that day (for example, if I’m using my shavers panasonic uk), or if I’m just doing my traditional routine.
I really try to carve out a good section of time for my skincare routine. Whether that’s 5-10 minutes in the morning, and then 5-10 at night. I also find it easier to do my nighttime skincare routine a good portion of time before bed. This is only a personal preference, as I start to dread having to do a bunch of things the more tired I become (anybody else the same?!).
Below are the products that I’m using on a frequent basis, with an explanation on their place within my skincare routine as a whole.
The Ordinary
Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
Oil-free and great for hydration, I use the hyaluronic acid from The Ordinary during my morning skincare routine. After washing my face, I apply it to my skin while it is still damp. Make sure you aren’t applying with a dry face, as it will cause your skin to peel during the day (which is not the best sight!)

The Ordinary
Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
Another addition to my morning skincare routine. You can use this product both morning and night, but I only use it during the morning. Targeting breakouts, minimising pores and helping with the regulation of sebum production, I had heard so many people praise this product. Since using it, my compexion has evened out a lot – and it’s helped clear a lot of the patches that having combination skin gives me.

Kiehl’s
Age Defender Eye Repair Cream
After using Origins’ eye cream for the past few years, I decided to pick up Kiehl’s eye repair cream once seeing the buzz around this product online. Lifting, firming and helping to reduce the appearance of dark circles, I’ve fallen in love with this product since using it. Another saviour of my morning skincare routine, this cream is a lot heavier than Origins’, but I find that it really does help to hydrate and give my undereye bags the brightening they need.

L’Oreal
Revitalift Day SPF 30 Moisturiser
I love this moisturiser. It’s so important to use one with SPF, especially if you’re using acids in your skincare routine. On top of this, I have an additional SPF that I carry around with me for daily top-ups, as skin damage through sun exposure is something I’m really conscious of. The Revitalift products have advanced UVA / UVB protection, with retinol and anti-firming properties to keep your skin looking fresh day on day. A greasier cream, this product can make you look oily if you use too much – so a little does go a long way.

Burts Bees
Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream
I have loved Burts Bees sensitive cleansing cream for a while, and picked this one up while I was in California. Part of my evening skincare routine, I love the ‘fresh’ feeling the menthol gives my skin. Feeling a lot harsher than the sensitive cream, I can also quite literally feel this working once I’ve applied it.

The Ordinary
Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution
The glycolic acid helps to exfoliate your skin while toning, which boosts your natural glow and eradicates dead skin cells. When I first purchased this, I had to work up to using it. Applied onto a cotton pad, I swab this on my face following my cleanser during my evening skincare routine. This is one of my staple products, sometimes leaving my face a little “tingly” after use.

Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque
I picked this up on triple discount in California, and I’m so glad that I did. I only use this every once in a while, when my skin is feeling dried out – or a little sensitive due to the ever-changing weather here in England. A jelly-like substance, the gel helps to lock in moisture while allowing your skin to breathe – giving great hydration while avoiding clogging your pores and causing breakouts. I love this product, and a little really does go a long way. I use a small scoop and spread it lightly across my face, waking with fresh and glowing skin the next morning.

As I said earlier, with a skincare routine that uses acids – it’s really important that you’re balancing that with a good SPF routine as you’re more vulnerable to sun damage during daily life. This also means that you need to be applying SPF daily, as regardless of the weather – skin damage by the sun still happens (even when it’s raining and cloudy!).
Thank-you for reading my Autumn skincare routine, I’d love to know what your holy-grail skincare product is. I’m not sure which mine is, as each one of them pays such an important part and I love them all. Ha! Even when I’m running late, I try to get my whole skincare routine in – and if I can’t, then I always make sure that I at least moisturise and cleanse.
