When it comes to Christmas, shopping for men can be quite tricky. I know that I find myself pondering over the best gifts to get the men in my life. Although there’s one key category that is universally accepted as a great choice for gifts: and that’s menswear. Today I wanted to share a menswear gift guide with you all, so that whether you’re looking to spoil the lucky man in your life, or you just want to get a little gift for under the Christmas tree – I’ve got you covered.
If you’re looking to shop particular looks for men, and winter menswear, I’ve also done a post with some winter outfit inspiration – which you can read here. In that post, I take you through some great winter outfits from around the web and break down each piece for affordable shopping.
When it comes to menswear, there are so many fantastic brands out there. (My favourites are ASOS, J. Crew, Abercrombie and Reiss!) So, today I’ve sorted all of my suggestions into categories – that way, you can either take the idea and run with it to your favourite brands, or you can see what items I’ve picked out from that category by clicking through each carousel! I’d love to know what you think of my first menswear gift guide, and whether it helped you with your Christmas shopping.
Christmas Essentials for the Menswear Lover
Cashmere Essentials
A luxurious material, cashmere presents are sure to bring a smile to the face of any receiver. I’ve included a range of items from jumpers to coats, all in cashmere and cashmere blends.
Stylish Jackets
When it comes to autumn and winter, classic jackets are the perfect menswear gift. I’ve included a lot of Barbour items here, for a great selection that any man will love.
Fitted Overcoats
Similar to the Barbour jackets, an overcoat is another classic and stylish item that every menswear lover needs in his wardrobe. I’ve selected a range of different colours, from classic camel to grey, dogtooth and black.
Classic Knitwear
Another staple for the wardrobe, classic knitwear. Recently, there have been so many great alternative styles and patterns to knitwear – so your options are almost endless. I’ve linked some great striped jumpers because they always add a little something extra to every outfit.
Weekender Bags
A good weekender is something that everybody wants. A low-maintenance bag that enhances every outfit no matter the trip or time of year. I’ve included some classic weekender styles that will benefit even the most subtle of menswear lovers.
Warming Cologne
Another menswear favourite, a good cologne enhances any outfit. Starting off with two classic Chanel scents, I’ve also added some Jo Malone and Diptyque to spoil the special men in your life with.
Staple Chinos
In line with a good range of denim, chinos are a menswear essential that a lot of people overlook. The great thing about chinos is that they’re offered in a range of colours and fits. Always best to nail the neutrals first, I’ve listed a bunch of great options to top off any year-long outfit.
Terrain / Duck Boots
I love duck boots. They’re practical, stylish and great for any man who goes walking in treacherous terrain. Perfect for the autumn and winter months, and for those long Sunday walks in the countryside when you don’t want to ruin your shoe collection.
Chelsea Boots
A favourite for the autumn and winter, chelsea boots go with just about everything. They smarten up a casual outfit, and upgrade the style factor of anything you bundle up with during the colder months. Also, they come in pretty fantastic neutrals, too.
Premium Shirts
A classic shirt is a great Christmas gift: but a premium shirt is an even better one. Reiss offer a great selection of classic shirts in a wide range of colours. Each of them not only look great, but feel great too.
Classic Scarves
Sometimes seen as a ‘boring’ item, scarves are accessories that everybody needs. You can make them more luxurious by purchasing a higher blend scarf, such as the cashmere ones I’ve linked here. Reiss and Paul Smith both have some great selections.
Additional Accessories
From grooming kits to bowties, cufflinks and belts, here are a selection of additional accessories to top off your menswear purchases. Each of these add a little something extra, and although I’d love to have shared more of them, hopefully they give you some inspiration for an additional gift.
I’d love to know what you thought of this menswear gift guide. From classic jumpers, to great looking coats and premium accessories and shoes, I tried to mix as much in as I could. I’d also love to know what your favourite style of menswear is. I seem to mix classic cut pieces with more modern styles, which I love. I’m drawn to the classic menswear items and shapes, but I love to modernise them with different prints and accessories.
