England is a country of transitions. Instead of a blazing summer one day and winter the next, transitional weeks stretch long into months of temperatures that can’t decide if they’re up or down. That sort of behaviour lends itself well to transitional clothing like a gilet, but before 2018 I had never owned one of my own. They always seemed a little bit redundant – a coat and vest that should never have mixed. But, in all honesty, my gilet has become one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe. And when picking up a mens gilet, I thought I’d share where I got this one that I’m never taking off, from.
You might have noticed on Instagram that green has been a bit of a staple colour for me this year. In fact, I think I’m pretty addicted to it. Especially in olive or forest tones, I love pairing it with neutrals and having an earthy outfit. Honestly, if my wardrobe was all cream, beige, brown, green and black – I wouldn’t be complaining. Those colours are my core palette, ha ha.
What I love about gilets is their ability to pair so well with practically anything. Dressing them up with a shirt? Check. Dressing them down with a tee, or a jumper? Will still look great. In fact, they seem to bring an effortless style to top off any outfit. And the amount of compliments I’ve received about mine, which is from Jack Wills, has been really nice.
P.S. my exact gilet is on sale right now for £28 – which is reduced from £70.
If you’re looking for a gilet – you’ve stumbled across just the right blog post. Especially if you’re looking for a mens gilet. Below, you can shop my outfit – the gilet is exact, but my jumper is from Primark instead of Boohoo. Yet Primark don’t have an online store of their own. And below that, is a range of gilets to spark all sorts of inspiration for you and your wardrobe. Enjoy!
