Drugstore skincare is quite literally the epitome of what I use. Easy to find, affordable to replace – it’s great. Although we don’t have ‘drugstores’ per se in England, I’m using the term to associate cheaper skincare with. Pieces that wont break the bank when you’re buying and re-buying.
The following drugstore skincare brands are those that I am obsessed with. I love multiple products from, and seldom come across a product from their lines that either I don’t like or don’t work well with my skin. Of course, you have to take your skintype into account. Mine is combination: dry in some places, oily in others. Which is just fantastic. My skin is also quite sensitive, so my journey into skincare has consisted of me trying, replacing, retrying and testing products. All while holding my breath on how they work with or against me.
Also, a quick note: this post is not written in collaboration with, or through any gifted content by any brand. (Not that a collaborative post would be anything other than my own enthusiasm anyway). Simply, I want to start sharing more of my skincare and skin journey on my blog, and thought I’d start with my drugstore skincare favourites. I’d love to hear your opinion on them below, too!
Please note: you can click on any of the products to go directly to their page (either on Amazon or Cult Beauty) to read more about them/their reviews from others.
Burts Bees has been a brand that I’ve loved for years. Since I first tried their lip balms, then I tried their foot and hand creams, and finally their moisturisers. Their cleanser is my go-to that I use nightly. I started with their sensitive one, and now I basically live off their Soap Bark and Chamomile Cleansing Cream.
If you’ve never tried Burts Bees, I definitely recommend that you do. Especially since their products are really nourishing and great for those with sensitive skin.
If you’re after bang for your buck, The Ordinary is where it is at. Not necessarily drugstore skincare in where you’d find it, but in price this skincare line definitely lives up to the name. Not a single product from their collection is over £10, yet all of them are specialist and incredible for what’s intended. My go-to products from their line are the Glycolic Acid Toner, Niacinamide Serum and BHA Peeling Solution, all of which I use almost nightly. They also recently released a cleanser, which looks and sounds incredible.
Olay. I could go on about my love for Olay all. Day. Long. Especially as a drugstore skincare brand. Their Olay Whip line is hands down my favourite moisturiser ever. EVER. It’s light, fluffy, nourishing, and not greasy. It sinks in quickly, leaves my skin feeling supple and best of all, doesn’t have me walking around with a greasy face all day. (Unlike unmentioned moisturisers of my past which were too heavy and thick, leaving me looking dreadful all day long). Another benefit is that it’s SPF 30 too, meaning that you’re getting extra sun protection right out of the box.
Their Olay Complete Night Cream is also my go-to. I use this every single night without fail. This cream is heavier than the Whip, but it also doesn’t leave me looking greasy or the consistency being so heavy that it just sits on my skin. When it comes to drugstore skincare brands, Olay is the one that I trust the most for products that are on my skin all day, every day.
